Overview
Plug-in hybrid technology and high-performance Italian motoring normally don't mix well, but Ferrari's new SF90 Stradale hypercar is here to shake things up. It follows in the footsteps of the LaFerrari as the halo vehicle of the prancing horse brand.
Engine, Ride, and Handling
The SF90 Stradale is no fuel-sipping, underpowered Toyota Prius: Its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine teams up with three electric motors to crank out 986 horsepower. Ferrari estimates a zero-to-60-mph time of 2.5 seconds and says the car will top out at 211 mph. All-wheel drive is standard and the SF90 Stradale can travel up to 16 miles on electric power alone, so long as the driver doesn't accelerate too aggressively and awaken the mighty V-8. A set of active aerodynamic features help the SF90 Stradale stick to the pavement with up to 860 pounds of downforce.
Interior and Technology
In addition to the SF90 Stradale's high-tech powertrain, its interior is handsomely simple with a 16.0-inch digital gauge display fulfilling both driver information and infotainment duties. A pair of highly sculpted sport seats hug the driver and passenger tightly, and a secondary display in front of the passenger provides information such as speed, cornering forces, and exterior temperature. The SF90 Stradale is meant to be a performance vehicle first and a luxury car second, so don't expect too many creature comforts.
